Velvet Calathea

The Velvet Calathea is a Marantaceae plant that is native to northeastern Brazil. The botanical name Rufibarba is derived from the Latin words, "Rufus", meaning red, and "Barab," meaning beard, referring to the leaves’ fuzzy undersides.

The Velvet Calathea can grow up to 1m high.  

Allow top half of soil to dry out between watering

Feed every 3-4 weeks from spring to early autumn with a nitrogen based fertiliser.

Thrives in medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light

The height of the plant is meaured from the bottom of the nursery pot. Diameter is that of the nursery pot.
