Calathea Princess Jessie

Calathea Princess Jessie is part of the Marantaceae family.   This new variety was developed in a cultivated environment in 2006 in Aalsmeer in The Netherlands.

Many plants in the Calathea genus are often considered slightly harder to grow, however, this cultivar is more tolerant of watering inconsistencies.

The most similar calathea variety to the Calathea Princess Jessie is the Calathea Dottie.  It differs in that the upper leaf is a much brighter pink on the edges of the leaves, and the Calathea Dottie has a more compact growth habit than the Calathea Princess Jessie.

Avoid direct sun exposure to retain the unique colour of the leaves.

Allow top half of soil to dry out between watering

Feed every 3-4 weeks from spring to early autumn with a nitrogen based fertiliser.

Thrives in medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light

Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them clean.

The height of the plant is meaured from the bottom of the nursery pot. Diameter is that of the nursery pot.
