Parlour Palm

The Parlour Palm is a species of small palm tree native to the rainforests of southern Mexico and Guatemala.  It is a very slow growing plant, but in tropical areas it can grow to a height of 3m.

It was a popular plant in Victorian times, and it was displayed in the parlour, the house's grandest room, hence its name, the Parlour Plant. 

Water when top 3-4cm of soil becomes dry.

Feed every 4 weeks from spring to early autumn with a nitrogen based fertiliser.

Shade tolerant, but thrives in moderate, indirect light

Black stems can be due to overwatering. Yellow spots can be due to a lack of nutrients.

The height of the plant is meaured from the bottom of the nursery pot. Diameter is that of the nursery pot.
