The Calathea Freddie is part of the Marantaceae family. It is native to the rainforest floors of tropical South America, specifically Brazil.
It is one of the Prayer Plant Calatheas, it has a unique circadian rhythm, spreading its leaves with the sunrise to absorb the sun, then withdrawing them and folding them at night like praying hands.
In the wild, white flowers bloom on a long, stalk-like inflorescence that flourishes from the centre of the plant. As an indoor plant, the Calathea Freddie is enjoyed for its beautiful, patterned foliage.
